Mr. William Chan is a senior lawyer with more than 40 years of practice experience and is the first Chinese international notary public in New South Wales. His practice spans civil, commercial, criminal, family, and immigration law. He is widely recognised for handling complex cross-border commercial contracts and criminal matters involving Australia, Hong Kong, and Mainland China.

Mr. Chan’s professional expertise also includes property conveyancing, international notarisation, probate and estate administration, and corporate structuring. With a rigorous professional approach and deep understanding of both Western and Chinese cultures, he provides high-quality legal services to individual and corporate clients.

Mr. Chan is admitted to practise before the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the High Court of Australia, and the superior courts of England. He is also a barrister of the High Court of Hong Kong and of New Zealand. As an international notary public and senior member (FCPA) of CPA Australia, he is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and adept at managing multilingual, multi-jurisdictional legal matters. His firm is located in the heart of Sydney’s Chinatown and has long been committed to serving the multicultural community, particularly the Chinese community.

Mr. Chan has extensive advocacy experience across all court levels, including the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, Family Court, Local Court, and District Court. He has handled numerous civil and criminal trials, appeals, and final-instance matters.

He has also been entrusted by government agencies, professional bodies, and community organisations to manage highly sensitive legal matters.

Mr. Chan graduated from the University of New South Wales with Bachelor’s degrees in Law and Commerce (Honours), and later obtained Master’s degrees in Commercial Law and Criminal Law from the same university. He also actively contributes to legal education, media commentary, and serves as an advisor for professional training programs organised by the New South Wales Law Society.

Recipient of the NSW Premier’s Community Service Award, Mr. Chan continues to serve the community with professionalism, integrity, and dedication through his work as legal advisor to various professional and cultural organisations.
